Update [1-16-2010]: I now have a better quality photo of this up. It's got much better detail than this one, so go check it out! Also I want to say thank you to everyone, I never would have expected this drawing to get so much attention. You guys rock.

Anyways, I liked Avatar a lot, so I drew this picture. I just grabbed the first picture I liked off Google before I noticed that everyone on DA had apparently used this same reference photo, so I apologize. The upside is there are lots of drawings for me to compare this to, which is nice since I'm trying to get back into drawing. It took quite a while. Probably ~5 hours, but I blame this partially on the fact that I haven't drawn anything in a year and a half.
When I did this I only had 3 pencils, 2H, HB and 2B, so I could only go so dark. This was fine until I started doing the hair and I realized I needed to go darker somehow. In my quest for blacker blacks I busted out the charcoal. MISTAKE. It almost utterly ruined the whole thing. I don't think I got the shape of her head quite right either. It needs to be a little wider, and jaw a little less square... For next time.
